31 Days of Halloween - Day 16

Welcome, welcome!  Today I am going to share with you a very fun challenge card Alex made.  It is for the Stamp It Crazy challenge.  Now, SIC has the most amazing Gothic and Halloween images.  Is that what they are doing?  NO- check this FUN out!

Pepsi vs. Coke - Halloween style!

Can you see the wonderful Diamond Glaze on the bottles so they look like glass?  Well they do!  - Thank you so much Nej for finding Alex that smaller bottle, it works like a charm!
This image is actually one of the digis from SIC.  The bear and the Pepsi bottle.  The 'other' bottle is the Pepsi one made smaller and the logo erased and the Alex colored it up.  She planned to have cobwebs on it because it had been sitting unwanted for so long, but just couldn't get them to look right and ended up leaving them off.

31 Days of Halloween - Day 15

Come into my parlor said the spider to the fly.....

Personally I appreciate when a spider catches a fly.  It lets me have a smorgasbord of sorts.  I can have both spider and fly for my meal at one stop.  Yummy!
The card today has the image Little Witchy from Fairy Knoll and she is part of their Halloween collection.  Alex loved this image and had the paper picked out and everything all colored up last weekend.  Then it just sat...and sat...and sat.

Finally Alex realized that the challenge was on Friday and it was Thursday afternoon and she proceeded to FREAK OUT!.  Yep, full on panic set in.  After I calmed her down and reminded her she had a plan and that it included using the sketch from Smudged and Smeared Very Sketchy challenge she calmed down and went to work.

As usual she messed up the sketch a bit, but this time it was on purpose, not because she remembered incorrectly.  Doesn't that spider look yummy?   Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.  Excuse me please, I am getting a bit hungry and believe it is time for a snack.  See you tomorrow.

31 Days of Halloween - Day 14

Nothing says Halloween more than a skull.  Unless of course the skull is a sugar skull sometimes called a Calavera (actually the Spanish word for skull).  These are used to celebrate the Day of the Dead which truly is a celebration and usually involves lots of eating and partying.  It occurs on Nov. 2nd so Alex and I decided that her Sugar Skull was still just perfect for 31 Days of Halloween.

This was created using a paper mache skull picked up at a local craft store and then painted white with acrylic paints.  After the paint dried, Alex used stamps, stencils and a pencil to create some guidelines for the designs to decorate the skull.

Then the fun began!  Grabbing every color of Viva Decor Glitter Liners and Pearl Liners she had she began to select which color went where and go over the designs.  Because she has a tendency to put her fingers in to anything that needs to dry, she was smart enough to do a small portion at a time.

Since Alex doesn't have any Viva Decor in red (a problem soon to be remedied) she decided to use silver on the teeth.  Most of the images Alex has seen for Sugar Skulls have the mouth outlined and the teeth defined.  However, once she saw it this way, it looked so much like braces or a mouth stapled shut she decided to just leave it.

I told you she had a surprise for today!  Want to know a secret?  Even Alex is surprised with how well this turned out!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 13

BLOG CANDY, BLOG CANDY, BLOG CANDY!

Do we have your attention?  LOL!  Alex is offering up some blog candy as part of today's post.  First, her Halloween creation for today.  This is another image drawn by Elaine Cox for Sweet Pea Stamps.

31 Days of Halloween - Day 12

 Halloween and black cats belong together.  Right?  Actually they don't, but somehow that has happened over the years.  The black cat was the familiar for the witch, then the black cat superstition and the witches for Halloween and then Walmart got into the whole thing and a mess was made!  I mean really, if you want true evil for Halloween, Walmart, Martha Stewart and Monsanto ought to top the list.  But really, who wants to go door to door dressed as a bottle of round up? So, black cat it is!

Alex created this card with an image from QKD called Black Cat 13 Stamp.  Black and purple, ahhhhhhhhhhh.

She added the sparkle burst/star thing in the corner to add a touch of pizazz.  Since I love shiny things, but am NOT a mocking bird, I approve of the move.  I also like the texture piece in the center and the stitching.  The 13 and stars are done with gold paint and really look great up close.

Alex has some super fun stuff up her sleeve for Thursday and TOMORROW come back to learn all about the blog candy!

What Lil' Witch doesn't need a lil' Edgar?  Today we have a card made with Sweet Pea Stamps image by Samantha Rawlings called Lil' Witch.

I really like the charm on her hat and Alex loves the kitty cat.  She even colored it grey like her Angel Kitty.  She sure misses that gal.  I am doing my best to keep her company, but she says it isn't quite the same.

31 Days of Halloween - Day 10

Well, I see you have made it to the double digit days and I must say I am pleased.  I was a bit worried you might tire of me and insist I return Alex to you.  Glad you appreciate my commentary even if they are her creations.  Why don't we just tell her you only come by to see me, Edgar Allen Crow, and that her projects are just a bonus ;)

Today I am sharing a card made using a stamp she purchased from SCACD as part of the Kraftin' Kimmie Halloween collection.  I have 'heard' that these stamps are in short supply and since Halloween is almost upon us, once they are gone, they are gone, so RUN and get yours!

Alex went for the old photo look with the sepia type tones.  It tends to lend to the creepiness factor.  Poor Hattie, she certainly looks like she has had a hard life death.  I know that I had to peck Alex's hand a couple of times to prevent her from adding a sentiment that said "Happy Mother's Day".  With her twisted thinking, she found that funny.  Crazy lady, someone better rescue me after this month, please!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 9

I am thrilled that our subject today is a fun digi image from Stamp It Crazy.  Alex was making this for the challenge this week and I grabbed it when she was done for the Halloween post today.  She wanted to do a separate one (I think she just misses the spotlight) but I told her NO WAY!  This card is in the spotlight today!!!

After printing out the image on cardstock, Alex grabbed the dye inks and brayer.  She used them to add all the color.  The image was then trimmed and matted with the black base.

The challenge this week at SIC is to use a black card base. Pretty easy and straightforward challenge, at least I hope!  Can't wait to see entries from all of you.  Link them up here.

31 Days of Halloween - Day 8

Here we are with an entire week of Halloween behind us. It is going so quickly! I do hope you are taking the opportunity to visit some of the other participants of the 31 Days of Halloween. A list of all of their blogs can be found on Alex's right blog sidebar. I know she has been poking around and I have perched on her shoulder to see as well. There are some pretty AMAZING creations out there!


Today is challenge day again at Fairy Knoll so Alex has created something using a Fairy Knoll Halloween image called Batgirl. 

This week the challenge is to use the provided sketch as a guide.  Well, Alex thought she knew what she was doing while making this and 'remembering' the sketch design.  When you visit the blog you will find, not so much!  The sketch is a bit different.  Beyond Alex's normal variance and artistic license she invokes.  It is the fumes, I'm telling you!  However, since this turned out so fun, I convinced her to just leave it be so I could share it with you.

I wish you could tell how wonderful Batgirl's bat top is.  It is covered in Stickles and shines like crazy!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 7 - with TIOT

BEWARE- Alex went a bit crazy with this one people.  I KNEW the fumes were getting to her.  The giggling was more mad scientist evil laugh when this was being created. 

This card is using the wonderful Halloween paper with the raven on it from Memory Box called Blackbird.  The entire paper pack is yummy, but, obviously, I am partial to this one and glad Alex decided to showcase it.  The image is a stamp from the latest release at SCACD.  It is called Flowers for Mom and is part of the Mini Sampler #1 drawn by Elisabeth Bell.  I know, EB does not draw creepy, she draws cute and this is not so cute.  Do you see the zombie skin and glowing red eyes?  I am pretty certain EB would be shaking her head if she saw this.

The challenge given to the SCACD team this week was to use an image that had 'animals' in it.  I agree, I do not see an animal either!  Alex originally had different plans entirely for this challenge.  When she sat down to work on it though, she saw this image stamped and lying on her work table.  The left side of her brain just took over.  First was the thought that humans are animals too.  The next thing she saw was to cut off the items that are already in the wagon and fill it with something else.  Immediately she began repeating Monty Python and saying "Bring out your dead"  "I'm not dead yet!"  and that is when the mad scientist giggling began.  I am telling you, I had my wings ready because she was just a bit scary sounding!  Then paper, ink, pens, flowersoft and all sorts of things began flying through the air and next thing I knew, she was showing me this card. 

At this point the 'animal' has to be either the raven on the paper, the teddy bear cut out, the girl turned zombie or......  Perhaps there is a cute little something hidding in the leaves she made with the autumn blend flowersoft.  The tag is a Mayaroad chipboard tag and gives added dimension to the top of the card.

So, what do you all think?  Should I be afraid?

31 Days of Halloween - Day 6

Welcome to Wednesday and day 6 of 31 Days of Halloween.  How are you enjoying things so far? Alex and I are looooooooooooooving them!!!

So, I promised a surprise announcement for you today.  Well, some of you may already know, but for those that don't, Alex has been asked to join the DT for Delicious Doodles!  She is super excited because Teri has a HUGE variety of digi images, including some mythical and mystical and just plain creepy ones!  Teri was the first digi shop Alex found that played to that dark side of her happy place.  So, it is only fitting today that I share with you a card Alex made with one of Teri's digis from Delicious Doodles.

Poor thing, looks like she is a bit lost and needs a mentor.  Where is Angel when a gal needs him? After stamping her with Momento ink and coloring her with my markers, I decided for this card, not to color in the background, but let her just stand out.

31 Days of Halloween - Day 5

Good Day!  Edgar back again.  So sorry for the interruption from Alex, but she is the boss so sometimes I have to humor her.  I know, but it's a living!
I am going to share yet another of the tags she has made.  I know that currently her goal is to find a fun way to display and/or store these tags and any others she makes so that they can be enjoyed on a regular basis.  If anyone has ideas they would like to tell me I will let Alex know.  Of course, in the interest of full disclosure, I will be taking full credit for the idea just to remind her how much she needs me around (I haven't seen a turkey purchased yet and November is approaching).

This time she combined stamps from THREE different companies.  I would tell you which ones, but she has put the stamps away and I am way to tired to try and dig them out at the moment.  Have you ever tried opening a storage tote with your beak?  I'm just sayin'....

Until tomorrow, when I have an announcement to share.  You know you want to know what it is!  Also, keep an eye out in the near future for some blog candy that Alex has gathered up to offer.  It will probably be next week, but I'll try to talk her into posting it early if I can.

31 Days of Halloween - Day 4

Welcome back.  I am excited to see you here and know that you have not become bored with our little adventure!

 I am excited to be able to share with you one of the tags Alex has made for our adventure in creating this month.  She spent quite a bit of happy time playing with different inks, sprays and stencils creating some backgrounds on a variety of tags.  After that, she dug out her stamps and just got busy.  This one is a couple of different Inkadinkado stamps.  I am personally quite impressed because Alex actually took the time to mask the haunted house image before stamping on the bats. 

There are actually several things Alex has done this month that she typically doesn't or hasn't tried before.  She seems so happy with the results that I bet you see more of it in the future.  Either that or the fumes are getting to her, I'm not quite sure which...

31 Days of Halloween - Day 3

So glad you decided to visit today.  I have a card to share with an image by one of the fabulous artists at Sweet Pea Stamps.

This image is by Elaine Cox and called Twilight.  Several members of the DT used purple with this image, it must just have that feel to it since they all did it without know about the others'.  Personally, I think the familiar for this lovely witch should be a raven, not an owl, but since Elaine Cox didn't ask me, well, here you go.  I know Alex loves it just as it is.

Things are really starting to get exciting at Alex's work table.  There is some ink just FLYING all over the place.  I have to duck and hide often to avoid being covered in glitter myself.  I hope she lets me share some of it with you soon.  I know it has to be within the next 4 weeks ;).  Hope to see you here tomorrow!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 2

Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed your first day of Halloween yesterday!  If you are confused about what I mean, please check out all the details here
There is some truly "WICKED"  talent participating you do not want to miss!
Today, Alex has created a Halloween goodie bag.  She has just been itching to use that spider web ribbon with the tiny spiders on it.  I was sure that one day it would be a picture of ME with a bow on my head if she didn't get a chance soon.  Thank goodness for the Stamp It Crazy challenge, PHEW!

As you can imagine, the image is from Stamp It Crazy and called Zoie.  I suggested something tasteful, but nooooooooooooo Alex went all tacky 70's makeup on poor Zoie.  She does look happy though doesn't she?  There was a lot of glossy accents added to the crystal ball to give it the realistic look.  Fortunately this week, Alex refrained from touching it to see if it was dry.  Much better!  I suggest you check out the rest of the creations by the Stamp It Crazy challenge DT.  They are some very talented ladies and since the challenge this week is "Halloween, but not a card" there should be some fabulous items to see.  Then, participate and link here for your chance to WIN!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 1

Welcome!!! Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Edgar Allen Crow. I will be your host for the 31 Days of Halloween here on Alex's blog. Now, occasionally, we might ask her for some details, but it will be primarily my job to share her creations and the 'how-to' details. I know you are going to just LOVE what she has in store.

For Day 1, I am pleased to show you the card Alex made for the Fairy Knoll Challenge #18 "Haunting Halloween".  She used the image Halloween Cupcake Fairy.  Now I realize some of you are saying "how is THIS haunting".  Have you ever eaten a cupcake with a spider as big as you are?  I f not haunting, then certainly intimidating!

Alex has told me that the final design on this card was one of those happy accidents you crafters claim to have.  When putting the card together, she almost put the image on upside down after placing the ribbon, but not the bow.  She decided she liked it, put it down and added the bow at an angle instead of straight on and here you are!  Just for good measure, there are stickles on the spider body, cupcake frosting and Fairy's wings. On an educational note, Alex's young nephew has informed me that a spider with one less leg (thanks to the nephew BTW) is still considered an arachnid even though it no longer has 8 legs. 

Now, I will leave you with the song that Alex has been singing the first couple lines to for the last several weeks ever since she began planning for this 31 Days of Halloween event. It has been making me a bit crazy, but perhaps you will like it. Enjoy!

SCACD-PALLOZA - New Release- 2 Artists in 1 Day

It is NEW RELEASE DAY at SCACD and it is beyond amazing this month!  There are not one, but TWO artists with a release.  Both Victoria Case and Elisabeth Bell have a mini-sheet of stamps being released today. 

I hope you have arrived via the BLOG HOP showing off all these wonderful images.  If not, I suggest you start at Suzanne's BLOG and work your way through so you don't miss a single thing!!!

Today I am privileged to get to show off Spyder.  He is the adorable boy from the mini sheet by Victoria Case.  I was beyond thrilled when I saw the hop assignments and my name next to this image.  Isn't he the best? 

The first thing I did was stamp the image in Momento ink.  I then went looking for the perfect paper.  Like most of you, I have more than a couple of options for this part of the process ;).  I found it in the Kaisercraft  Konstrukt 6x6 pad.  One thing I really love about the Kaisercraft paper pads are the extra elements, borders, tage, etc., in the back.  The gree circle was a tag that I trimmed the edge off.    

My next step was to color the image to coordinate with the paper I selected.  Then I grabbed the Viva Decor glitter liner in Peridot and accented the adorable little spider on his hat.

I hope you like Spyder as much as I do.  All of the image from this release of mini-sheets from both artists are wonderful and you will see more of them through out October for certain!!!
