The Toxic Teens from Simply B Stamps are available NOW!  But first, I have one more to share with you and you can see creations with the final four images at Beyond the Burtonesque Dolls.  The DT had so much fun playing with these images.

Here is Nix.  I just thought he needed some FUN colors!

I think he looks Sassy, but still Cool, with some color.  I am loving the Bo Bunny zebra paper with him.

Hope you have enjoyed the image previews and I really hope you took the time to see all of them at the Beyond the Burtonesque Dolls BLOG.  There are some amazing samples!

Toxic Teens Preview

We are pretty excited at Beyond the Burtonesque Dolls.  Today we are previewing the latest Simply B Stamps release.  I get to give you a peek at Stewie.

Isn't he just full of a bit of Sass and Swagger?  He pairs up perfectly with the leopard print from the Heidi Swap paper collection.  My boys have told me that the sparkle ribbon was fine and 'not too girly' because I didn't use 'flowers or anything'.  Good to know.

Check out the other previews from the rest of the DT at Beyond the Burtonesque Dolls.  While you are there, don't forget we have our current challenge running until next week.  Come back tomorrow to see the rest of the release and they will also be available to purchase from Simply B Stamps.

Elisabeth Bell for SCACD BLOG Hop!

WELCOME!!! I hope you have been enjoying the hop for the Elisabeth Bell for SCACD release!  If you aren't hopping, you will want to and can start at the SCACD BLOG with the full list. I am thinking that many of you just came from Lori's BLOG (isn't Earth Angel wonderful?).  If you did, then you are on the right track and I get to share two images with you today as well!!

The first image to share is from the Sweet Home Peekers collection called My Family Peeker.

I paired her with the vintage look cabbage rose covered paper in the Heidi Swapp Sugar Chic collection.  The solid yellow and pink are from the same collection.  This is a great collection with a lot of versatility to the patterns.  The added faux stitching finishes it off.

The second image I am sharing today is from the Summer Time Peekers collection called Boo Boo Peeker.

This little gal is paired with paper from the Basic Grey PB&J collection.  The vines are cut from one of the solid papers in the collection using the Memory Box die Savannah Border.  The flower is from the Petaloo Darjeeling Dahalias in neutral.  I sprayed it with the Dylusions ink in vibrant turquoise to coordinate with the pattern paper.

When you head to the store to purchase your new stamps, spend some time looking around.  There is a TON of fabulous new stuff in stock at SCACD!

But first, finish off the BLOG hop to see all the other creations and inspiration from the DT.  Next up is the super talented Suzanne.   Leave her some love when stop by.

Sweet Pea Stamps Anniversary and BLOG CANDY!

Sweet Pea Stamps is turning 3 and we are celebrating in style!!  Many of the DT members will have BLOG CANDY - so all of YOU are getting the presents!!! You can keep up with all the goings on at the Sweet Pea Stamps BLOG, so be certain to check there daily!!!!

Now, before I get to the details of the BLOG CANDY I am giving away, I want to share my latest card using a Sweet Pea Stamps image.  This is Midnight Waiting by chingchou kuiks on Plate #29.  It is one of the earlier releases from Sweet Pea Stamps and still one of my favorites.  Of course, I could say that about every image from Sweet Pea Stamps!  She has gathered some amazing artists and there is something that for everyone to love.

Now, for the BLOG CANDY.  I have TEN, yes, TEN images to give away AND I am going to send them ALL to one lucky winner.  My only stipulations are that you can not sell any of these and if you receive any images that are duplicates of ones you already own, please pay them forward as blog candy of your own.  Fair enough?

I bet you are thinking, "Alex, that is all well and good, but how do I win?".  Just comment below, making certain I can reach you via email, and tell me what your very favorite artist is at Sweet Pea Stamps.  I will use random.org to draw a winner and announce it here on May 1.  If you would like to share about this, and all the other blog candy happening to celebrate Sweet Pea Stamps 3rd anniversary, that would be fabulous!!

Garden Eyes

This image is Garden Eyes from the Susana Loves Stamps, Eyes of Beauty collection.  This was a rare occasion when I colored the image and then found papers, embellishments, etc. I am both pleased and shocked with how well it worked out!  The background paper is from a Kaisercraft pack and was perfect!  I used my Viva Decor pearl pen in yellow to create the center of the larger flower and it was just the needed finishing touch.

Teapot Mouse

As a Mom of 2 boys, we seem to have had assorted rodents as pets over the years.  None of them are nearly as cute as this Teapot Mouse from the Reflections Set #1 at SCACD.  I think she is just lovely and welcoming.  I matched my markers to the colors in the Basic Grey Plumeria paper before coloring her.  The corner designs are actually cut out of one of the papers in the collection and the background is from the paper pad as well.

Pandora's Box

The challenge at Beyond the Burtonesque Dolls is to alter a box, and creep it up.  My contribution began like this

Rather plain isn't it?  I grabbed my mica powders and mixed up some of the Scarab Beetle with glaze to paint the box.  The fastener got special treatment.  I mixed the Solar Gold mica powder with glaze for painting it.

I stamped the box and fastener with the bonus image in The Eyes of Beauty Collection.  This really is a great image.

I then inked up all the edges to give it a more aged look.

To be certain it was appropriately creepy, I went with the idea of the Pandora's Box.  The outside, giving no clue to the contents inside.  Truly a dead man's chest filled with the bones of previous treasure hunters and the treasure they were seeking.

Can hardly wait to see your creation!  Be certain to play along with Beyond the Burtonesque Dolls.

Emerald Dragon in Ruby

Meredith Dillman's most recent sheet plate #202 has 4 wonderful images, but I am partial to Emerald Dragon.

I enjoyed coloring the Emerald Dragon in Ruby colors this time.  I see a Sapphire colored dragon in my future as well.

The background paper is from the Basic Grey Indie Bloom collection  and I used the Eat Sleep Stamp Sketch #168 for the design inspiration.

Speak Your Mind

I have been venturing, again, into art journaling.  It is something I LOVE to look at and admire, but I am intimidated to actually DO.  Why?  Well, I can give you a bazillion reasons, none of which are good :).  So, here I go, just going, and playing, and enjoying the process, because THAT is what art journaling is.

The other morning, on the way to work, I saw a bumper sticker and it spoke to me.  So much so, I got to work and emailed what it said to myself.  I wanted to be certain I didn't forget.  I decided it was perfect motivation for a page.

I had a total blast creating the background with Dylusions sprays.  After it dried I used glaze to put on the ransom words.  The flames at the bottom were created using mica powders mixed with glaze and applied through the Crafters Workshop Flames stencil.  The leftover mixed up glaze I applied lightly over and around the ransom words.  I added some gesso to the page edges and created a sun and heart with them as well.

I used my sharpie to outline the flames and draw the shapes more clearly that I created with the gesso.

I stamped the Victoria Bonita image on the right and wrote some words around her that are reminders to me of attributes I need to embrace and not be afraid of.  I then highlighted it with the silks ice.   I wasn't able to capture the shimmer and the image in the same photo, but know it is GORGEOUS!

Have you ever had something just speak loudly to you?  What was it?  Did you honor the feelings and the process?  That is what I am attempting to do.  I am also trying to learn the lesson and not forget.
