31 Days of Halloween - Day 31

DAY 31!?!?!  Do you know what that means?  I means that TODAY is HALLOWEEN!   We have been waiting all month long and it is HERE!!!  I am pretty sure this means that you will never again see anything gothic, or creepy or skeleton related on this blog after today.  - Yep, I crack myself up!  Any of you who know Alex even just a tiny bit know THAT is a big fat lie!  LOL!

For the grand finale of 31 Days of Halloween, Alex is allowing me to share a teeny tiny portion of the altered book she is working on.  Now this is only one of several, she seems to have a couple going at a time so regardless of her mood, one might fit for creative purposes.  I did NOT pick the mermaid one, although that is really something, I did pick the one more fitting for Halloween.

Here is a close up of the left side of this particular page in the book.  I know that one time Alex was around when a spider nest opened and if you have never seen this before, it is super cool and creepy all at the same time.  Me, I like to think of it as a feast for all, but not everyone has the same taste as I do.  Alex worked to try and get the same feel with these spiders emerging from the page.  Makes ME hungry just looking at it.
The right side of the spread is less spider and more web and bones.
The bugs caught in the web do make me feel like perhaps I shouldn't write blog posts hungry.  I thought it was only grocery shopping or gardening that had that rule, but I guess not.

While Alex wasn't looking I snapped a shot of another page in the book.  This one is a bit difficult to capture with a camera, but these images are all stamped and embossed in silver.  There is also a lot of loose embossing powder that she melted just where it landed.  I hope you can appreciate how gorgeous, in a truly Halloween manner, this particular page is.
Well, now that Halloween has arrived and my 31 Days have ended I bid you all a fond farewell.  Lizzie seems to be a tad family orientated and has taken me in immediately.  I am not certain this is all for the best, but as of right now, it is working for us.  We are planning to take some travels, perhaps even to visit the Flamingo Queen herself (oops, I almost left off the 'O', that was not quite right!).  I will be certain there are pictures and we share our adventures if so!   In the meantime, be nice to Alex, she is a bit out of practice on this whole blogging thing you know.

Happy Halloween!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 30

Hello! I have a surprise for you today....  CAW CAW!!!

First, I would like to share Alex's creation with you.  This is not one of her favorites, but it is certainly growing on me.  She imagined something quite different in her brain, but I told her not to throw it away and to let you all see it too.
This tag background is made with Glimmer Mist and a butterfly shaped screen.  The purple is the reuse of what was on the screen from a previous spray, flipped onto a blank tag and then she sprayed over it again with the pink.  This image is a great Victorian looking girl drawn by a new artist to SCACD named Carmen Medlin.  There is a full set of images that just released yesterday.  This one is called First Signs of Fall.  After stamping in brown ink, Alex colored some select areas with Copics for a further aged look.  The edge is stamped with portions of a butterfly image and then  the spider and candelabra images were added.  Isn't her face perfect for the spider hanging behind her?  Oh dear, I just realized that some of my friend's toys were left out and got into the picture.
I would now like you to meet my new friend.  Her name is Lizzie.  I have been looking for a gal with out a lot of baggage and she assures me that hers has been delt with.  How perfect!
Isn't she just beautiful?  I can't seem to take my eyes off of her.  Alex's friend Frank said that I was 'dating up'.  I think that is a good thing, don't you?  I am trying to talk Lizzie into some traveling and adventures after this gig with Alex ends, but we will see.  Perhaps that is moving a bit fast, but when the love bug bites, what can I say?
Until tomorrow- which is HALLOWEEN y'all!

Happy Halloween!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 29 with Pearl Princess

HELLO!   Edgar Allen Crow here and for those of you here for 31 Days of Halloween, Alex has prepared a very SPECIAL TREAT and you get to see the BRAND NEW RELEASE from SCACD with a new artisit!
Those of you here specifically because of the brand new release-YAY!- and you should have arrived fromthe blog of Kim Dellow - http://craftymakes.blogspot.com/

Today I am super pleased to share not one, but TWO creations Alex made with Pearl Princess

After stamping and coloring this gorgeous and detailed mermaid, Alex cut her out and placed her in am underwater garden scene.  Doesn't it look like Pearl Princess is tending to her coral garden?

Because it is 31 days of Halloween, and Alex IS the one who created this, she worked to incorporate one of the legend of mermaids.  They are told to be much like Sirens that sing their hypnotic songs luring sailors to their death on dangerous rocks.  Pearl has a small collection of bones in her garden of earlier 'loves'.

The next item Alex made with Pearl Princess is a card and gift box in one.  This idea was from Femke.  I changed mine up a bit and it is standard A2 card size except for the thickness.
The inside has a pocket on the left with a generous sized tag for writing a message to the recipient.  The right side is a box that has a bag of bath salts inside.  The box can be opened from the top and has a ribbon tie the goes around it.

On the from of the card is Pearl Princess colored to coordinate with the paper.    She and the mat are both cut out using Nestabilities.
The flower is cut from the patterned paper, Kaisercraft Utopia, and a Prima Flower Center added.  The flowers to the side and underneath are Maya Road mini chipboard and covered with coordinating paper from the same collection.

Can't wait to purchase some of these new stamps you are seeing for yourself? Well go HERE to see the stamps and order! When you order the full sheet you get two free accessory stamps as well! YAY! If you are overseas you can purchase from our sister store Quixotic Paperie!! For my Canadian friends you can purchase the stamps at Art Du Scrapbooking!!

I hope you have enjoyed what Alex has done with this new image and be certain to check out ALL of the wonderful images by this new artist.   Your next stop on the hop Teri Berrios -  Blog:   http://teriberi2.blogspot.com/

Alex and I thank you for your time with what was an extremely long post for us and hope to see you back tomorrow for day 30 of 31 days of Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 28

So glad to see you here today!  Can you believe that it is day 28?!??!!!? WOW!  Alex and I can NOT!  It has just flown (hee hee) by!

Today, there is a VERY special sponsor for the 31 Days of Halloween.  TIDDLY INKS by Christy Croll.  She draws some fabulous images.  Alex first fell in love with the Huggabuggs Christy drew for Stamping Bella.  Now Christy also has diggy images available at Tiddly Inks.  For more details on how the prize you can WIN from TIDDLY INKS see the post on Kelli's blog HERE.  Today we are sharing a card Alex made with one of them.  Introducing Always the Flower Girl....
Alex created a card using Pink Paisley Queen Bee paper which is very Tim Burton flower girl creepy feel so seemed to 'Halloween Up' a sweet image.  Of course, the raven in the corner helps too.
Many thanks again to Tiddly Inks for sponsoring the 31 Days today.

Tomorrow I'll have a couple of super special items with a New Release Alex has been working with to share.  Don't forget that today is the last day to enter for the blog candy HERE so run over if you haven't yet and do so!!!

More details on my date to come on Saturday, maybe even a picture or two if you are lucky.

Happy Halloween!!!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 27

Hello! I get to bring you another fabulous tag that Alex did up. This one has a background created by stamping dye ink pads onto a craft mat, spritzing with water and then smooshing (technical term here) the tag on top to pick up the ink.  I am a bit concerned that one day she is going to spritz or smoosh me by accident, so I make certain my observational hovering is just out of reach.

Alex used a portion of a ROCKIN' stamp from Smeared Ink's Holy City set as well as that gorgeous flying raven from the same set.  The sentiment is from Mad Hatter stamps and reads "All Journeys have Secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware".

Alex then distressed the edge with more purple ink to finish everything off.  Since purple is her favorite color, I know that made her happy.  I'm currently a bit partial to pink myself, but more on THAT at another time.

Challenges:
Macabre Monday #062 - Smudged & Smeared
Gingersnap Creations #GC73 - Gothic Elements
C.R.A.F.T. #73 - Spooky
Paper Playtime #22 - Halloween
Art on the Darkside #65 - Halloween

See you tomorrow!

Happy Halloween!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 26 with QKD Tuesday blog hop

Hello and welcome to Alex's blog today!  For those of you who arrived here from the QKD Blog hop, you should be coming from Chris's BLOG - but if not, thank you for visiting my blog. In order to see the entire Hop, please go back the the QKD Blog to start at the beginning!

The team at QKD was challenged to use a pair of shoes as their inspiration.  Recently this pair was shared on the Smudged and Smeared forum.  Aren't they just amazing and perfect for Halloween?

I used the Monster Hand stamp from QKD for this card and handwrote the sentiment.  Think of how much fun this would be to send with saying such as:  Need a hand?, Can I lend a hand?  Lose something?, etc.

Now, before I send you on your way, Alex has asked me to relay some things.  This is her last official QKD post as part of the design team.  It has been a FABULOUS year and QKD has some amazing images.  She is truly thankful for the opportunity she had to spend a little over a year as part of the team.  That said, I KNOW she is still playing with the QKD stamps and several are still on her wish list, so you will still see LOTS of QKD stamps here .

Your next stop on the hop is the WIS BLOG for a fabulous creation!

See you tomorrow, I have to run because I have a date.....

Happy Halloween!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 25

Free Spirit by Teri from Delicious Doodles is the lovely I get to share with you today.

Alex just loves this image.  She is so peaceful when working with it.  I love that she kept the fairy so pail and soft contrasting with the stunning and oh so important raven in the image.  The card base and base image panel are both actually a very pale blue the work very well with the pattern paper and fairy gown.  Alex was VERY frustrated with the pictures and the colors not showing well.  I finally got her to stop fussing and let me share it as is.

I hope you enjoy our elegant Halloween today.  Tomorrow will be a bit more frightful.

Happy Halloween!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 24

Welcome to day 24. This time next week will be.....HALLOWEEN! Caw, Caw!!! I am super excited for it to arrive. I hope you have all been enjoying out little adventure and also taking to time to visit some of the other participants in this 31 Days of Halloween adventure. There have really been some amazing creations and Alex and I will be sad to see it end. I am also a bit concerned about what my job will be Nov. 1. Anyone need some 'talent' for their blog? Perhaps we can work out a deal.

I am sharing another wonderful tag with you today.  Alex has realized the need for ravens in Halloween images and is doing a much better job.  This image is from Inkadinkado and very elegant, if I do say so myself.

The background on the tag is created with a couple of different Glimmer Mists and screen.  The screen actually was used to mask on another tag, then Alex could not bring herself to 'waste' all that lovely Glimmer Mist sitting on the screen so flipped it over onto a blank tag.  She then sprayed a different color mist over the tag and screen.  I love the look and so does Alex.  She darkened the edges a bit with some charcoal ink and here you go!

Looking forward to visiting with you again tomorrow!

Happy Halloween!

FABULOUS AMOUNTS OF BLOG CANDY!!!

In celebration of the new artist coming to SCACD there is a MAJOR amount of BLOG CANDY up for grabs on the store blog Follow Your Heart.  You simply MUST check it out and ENTER!  Then be certain you join us in the release hop next Friday Oct. 29 for a chance at even MORE candy!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 23

Hey Hot Stuff- going my way?  Isn't this image from Stamp It Crazy for the challenge this week just a hoot caw?

Alex's oldest just finished up and graduated from his Driver's Ed class.  Obviously there is a loooooooooooot more practice driving to be done before the actual license, but it is still a pretty big moment.  This image was perfect for Alex to make him a graduation/congratulations type card for the occasion.

And a reminder to NEVER pick up hitchhikers- EVER!

This easel card is made using some Memory Box Blackbird paper and then some wonderful bat embellishments Alex was RAKed.  The bat is the corner is metal and so wonderful that I had to do a LOT of prodding to get Alex to use it.  It was perfect, but she was so worried that then it would be used! Silly human!
As you can see, Alex made a deal with the Devil herself and broke down and purchased the drippy goo border punch by MS.  I am very proud, she made it ALMOST 2 years before cracking.  A friend reminded Alex that even the Devil can hire talented help, so we are thinking of it as "supporting the minions".

Be certain to check out what the rest of the DT did with this image and enter the challenge for your chance to win it!

Happy Halloween!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 22

Nice to see you back again- or if this is your first visit- where have you been all my life?  As I mentioned earlier this week, life has been a bit crazy for Alex and she is running out of time for some things.  Unfortunately, that means that although today is the new challenge day for Fairy Knoll, she doesn't have anything to share.  However, please still swing by and participate in their challenge this week for a chance to win some of their fabulous images.

Now, onto what I have selected from that dwindling stack or ready to go items Alex asked me to work with.  This is a lovely marionette fairy from Sweet Pea Stamps and the image is called Puppet Angel in the Circus and is even on SALE!

This image is one that Alex always seems to forget how much she likes until she starts putting the card together.  I think this one turned out especially nice, don't you?  Notice the lighter face on the puppet.  It is like the old style dolls.

Challenges:
Flutter By Wednesday #127 - Open Challenge

Speaking of dolls, is there anything more creepy than old dolls?  Not meaning that this card is creepy in any way.  My brain just took a turn right there, I hope you followed along.  So, for those of you that really want the Halloween post to be SCARY here is what I have to SCARE you today.  This summer during the family vacation, Alex visited The House On The Rock.  If you don't know what that is, Google it because I am getting tired typing with my beak.  Anyway, the house itself was really cool, and then there were all the collections.  There was some neat stuff in the collections, but anyone who has been there will probably agree that this guy must have been Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.  Nothing like giving a hoarder the funds to just build more space for the stuff and then people paying to see it all.
One of the displays was a doll carousal.  Now, as I mentioned earlier, Alex finds dolls just a bit creepy.  The two story high multi-layer carousal of these dolls spinning around to music was pretty much her nightmares come to life.  She hurried through there just as fast as all the people in the way would allow and still thinks about them all coming to life and reaching out with there creepy little hands.  So without further delay- welcome to her nightmare
!

Now if THAT doesn't freak you out - you are one tough cookie!

Happy Halloween!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 21

Welcome to day 21!  Alex and I are sharing another stylin' gal with you today.  Her name is Mitzi Mummy and she is a Kraftin' Kimmie stamp from SCACD.  The Halloween ones are currently on sale BTW and the new Holiday stamps are in too (but not part of the sale)!!!

Now Mitzi seems to have the same problem as her friend Zelda and hasn't quite come to terms with being dead.  She is all ready for a night on the town.  She is even working the bling in the belly button and has on her sexist wrap!

In Mitzi's honor Alex has worked to do an appropriate job accessorizing her setting.  It just wouldn't be right for her to hit the town under dressed!  The paper is from the Memory Box Blackbird pack.  The gauze is actually the Linen Weave Magic Mesh in Wedding White trimmed and distressed.

The flowers are Petaloo and the black is one of the Maya Road chipboard flowers colored with markers to match.  The pearls on the bottom left were made with Viva Decor Pearl pen in black. Alex sure loves those Viva Decor pens.  I have to keep an eye on her so she doesn't "Viva" the whole house!

Alex also told me I could tell you to be sure and pay attention.  There is some amazing BLOG Candy coming up on the SCACD store blog this weekend and a new surprise artist.  SHHHHHHH!

Happy Halloween!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 20

Well, today I was presented with quite the quandary.  Alex gave me a stack, all be it a short stack, of completed projects and told me to pick one to share.  Excuse me?  I am the talent, not the worker bee here.  There seems to be a bit of confusion as to what the roles are.  However, since Alex looked a bit tired and flustered (and I like to eat) I decided to help her out.

I selected another one of the Halloween tags.  I really enjoy sharing the tags and I know Alex likes making them.
The background color for this one was achieved by splotching dye ink pads on the craft mat, spritzing with just a tiny bit of water and then putting the tag down on top of the whole mess to soak it up.  The image is a stamp from Third Coast Stamps and one of our favorite lovely ladies.  The dark ground was created by sponging on some charcoal chalk ink.

I have also decided this tag will be Alex's entry into the Macabre Monday challenge of  A Lil' Lurid & Lovesick.  A vampire hanging out at her lover's grave, yep- that qualifies in my book!

Challenges:
Macabre Monday HDH #061 - A Lil' Lurid & Lovesick

Tomorrow is another lovely lady who seems be 'working' the dead angle.  Hope to see you then!

Happy Halloween!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 19 & QKD BLOG Hop!!

WELCOME to the Queen Kat Designs Stamp Co. Blog Hop. You should have arrived from Chris's BLOG - but if not, thank you for visiting my blog. In order to see the entire Hop, please go back the the QKD Blog to start at the beginning!

Alex and I decided the image Sadie's Victory was appropriate for Halloween in addition to being a FABULOUS image drawn by Maigan Lynn for QKD.  Do you see those lovely bat wings Sadie has?

These colors are NOT the challenge colors for the hop.  Even I as a bird know that, but we liked the way it turned out, loved the bat wings for Halloween and BEGGED the Queen to let us use it anyway.  She was gracious and said yes.  So, although Alex is most certainly a rebel, I did get her to ask permission this time.

I hope you enjoy Sadie's Victory as much as Alex and I do.  Maigan has some fabulous gothy designs in there and of course there are several other designers at QKD that rock the goth, manga, steampunk and just about anything else you can think of.  There really is something for everyone.  Make certain after you finish the hop to swing by the store for some new stamps!

Your next stop on the hop is the WIS BLOG for one of Wynneth's fabulous creations!

We have a couple of things in the works for you the next few days.  I look forward to seeing you then!

Happy Halloween!
Edgar!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 18

Zelda Zombie and I would like to welcome you today! Isn't she just divine? Zelda is really having a difficult time accepting she is no longer alive and is trying to work the fashion thing. Don't you love how her eyes and shirt match?

Zelda Zombie is one of the Kraftin' Kimmie stamps available at SCACD and even better, right now the Halloween ones are 25% off and the other Kraftin' Kimmies are 15% off!  I know!  Alex and I are BOTH amazed!
In an effort to encourage Zelda, Alex worked very hard to coordinate the pink of her eyes and the green of her skin with this card.  She used the Hippy Girl paper from Kaisercraft.  The sparkle are swirls from the double-sided design adhesive stickers - this stuff is AMAZING!- and both the silver and hot pink glitter from the Tonertex Glitter tower.  Alex thought it was just so fun to mix the glitter colors and I had to watch Alex very closely or I thin poor Zelda would have been glitter from head to toe.

Challenges:
Inspiration Card Sketches #87 - Sketch
Color Create #55 - Pink, Green, Cream

Alex has asked me to let you know that the winner of the Sweet Pea Stamps blog candy is............

DANIELLE!!!  Caw Caw!!

Congratulations Danielle!

See You Tomorrow!

Happy Halloween!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 17

Welcome to the last half of 31 Days of Halloween! I can hardly believe it is going so quickly.  I will miss getting to chat at you everyday when it ends.  I know Alex is enjoying it, but also a bit frantic. She was truly not aware how much work trying to create and post consistently on a theme for 31 days would be.

Today I am sharing with you my favorite creation by Alex so far.  I am not certain you will be able to determine why it is my favorite though.....Hee Hee.

I will admit to being a bit jealous though as I am alone with no bird friends.  Alex and I went looking yesterday, but none were to be found in any of the places we looked.  Evidently my feathered friends were quite a popular item this year.

Alex made another tag using some of the chalk Glimmer Mist in banana on this one (and no, it is not referring to the flavor of the mist, only the color).  After stamping the image by Inkadinkado, she masked the moon and used her colorbox chalk inks to create the sky and also to edge/grunge the tag a bit.

Enjoy and I will be back tomorrow with another creation for you.  Don't forget, today is the last day to enter the Sweet Pea Blog candy Alex is giving away!

Challenges:
Tag Tuesday - The Moon
SCD 15th Oct - Black & Orange
Fussy & Fancy Friday #21 - Halloween
Oh Alice! #35 - Door, Gate or Keyhole

Happy Halloween!
