Celebrating Memorial Day at Fairy Knoll

Fairy Knoll is celebrating Memorial Day this week with the challenge.  Please celebrate with us in whatever way you find best.  With color or image choices or whatever just strikes your fancy.  I decided to use stars!

This image is Flora.  I actually selected her because she made me think of someone placing flowers on a grave.  I remember every year on Memorial Day, my Grandpa and Great Aunt would load up the car with flowers and travel all over the state to visit the graves of friends and relatives.  They literally traveled the entire day to do this.  I was always so impressed.  I would love to, one day, be able to pick this up this tradition again.

I am looking forward to seeing your creation.  If you would like to use a Fairy Knoll image, we would LOVE that!  There are some FREEBIES HERE if you don't have any yet.

Gathering Love

SCACD's newest stamp release Natural Beauty Collection drawn by Carmen Medlin is absolutely amazing!  I hope you have ordered yours, but if not, please check them out.  If you like to color images, you will not be disappointed.  These are a joy to color!

This image is called Gathering Love.  I was swooning over it even before I inked it up, just with what I could tell in the reverse rubber!

I combined her with some Bo Bunny Ad Lib papers and Petaloo Jeweled Florettes.  These things are truly my very favorite flowers to use! While you are shopping for all the fabulous goodies at SCACD, don't forget that you save money when you buy more.  The shipping is free in the US once you hit $100!

Fun at Fairy Knoll with FLOWERS!

This week at Fairy Knoll the challenge is FLOWERS.  How do you interpret this?

I decided to use flowers a bit of everywhere.  The image is one of the newer ones to Fairy Knoll called Iris.  I love the bouquet she is holding because it has a variety of flowers in it. The background paper with flowers and strip on the side are part of the Echo Park For the Record collection.  I also used my edge punch with flowers and pulled out the Prima flowers.  FLOWERS everywhere!  :)

Link you creation HERE so I can see what you come up with.  Don't forget, Fairy Knoll has several FREE images located HERE if you would like.

Gothic Lament

One of the many newer artists at Sweet Pea Stamps is Rebecca Sinz.  Anyone who knows me, knows that the minute I saw this image called Gothic Lament I had to have it.  The entire sheet is amazing, but this image just called to me.  I have no idea the official name of the technique I used, but after stamping the image in brown ink, I spot colored it with Copics.  I then spritzed the entire thing with Sugar Cookie Glimmer Mist.  After it was dry, I cut it apart and then pieced it back together on some deep purple velum.  I cut it out with my nesties as well as a dark brown frame.  The background paper is corner pieces from a sheet of the Prima Moulin Rouge collection.  This was one of those really fun to make creations that started forming in my brain and as I began just all came together perfectly.  That is such a rare occasion, and I just enjoy every second of the process when it happens!

Spotlight on ching chou kuik

Sweet Pea Stamps is running a spotlight sale on the artist ching chou kuik.  I really enjoy coloring her images and so decided to pull out an older one to show off.  This is Forest Blue from plate # 33.

I paired her with some Prima Moulin Rouge paper adding flowers and leaves I punched from the same paper and black cardstock.  Just to be certain she sparkled like any proper fairy, I used Stickles on her wings and the accents.  The flower center is actually a black rhinestone brad.

A gift Mom really wants!!!

The Queen of her castle

This week the challenge #49 at Fairy Knoll is to create something for Mother's Day.  I know what you are thinking.  You are looking at this card and saying "It has happened.  Alex has actually lost her mind."  Nope- I have not, it just requires some explanation!
As I was looking through the Fairy Knoll images to decide what to use and create I kept coming back to Bianca and thinking about Mom's being the Queen of her castle (home) and how appropriate. See, not so crazy......yet.

Looking forward to seeing what you create for Mother's Day and having you play along with the challenge this week at Fairy Knoll.  Don't forget, there are several FREE IMAGES to be found HERE if you would like.  We'd love to see what you do with them.  There are also several new images to be found in the Fairy Knoll store.

Happy Mother's Day

Mother's Day is just around the corner.  What better image for a Mother's Day card than Mrs. Cleaver from the Sassy Meets Sweet Collection

I used the wonderful Bo Bunny paper in the Gabrielle collection for the dress, strip and background.  Those fun flourishes are done with the free stamp that is included with entire Sassy Meet Sweet Collection or the Bonita's Collection.  You want this flourish, trust me.  Just do it, get the entire collection, it is sooooooooooo much easier than making decisions of which ones to try and live without.

A Day Filled With Sunshine

This sweet fairy on Plate #125 by Samantha Rawlings just make me think of sitting outside in the sun on a beautiful Spring day.  Since it was snowing at my house just last week, I guess it isn't in my near future to do so, but I can certainly dream! I hope YOU have a day filled with sunshine!

Forest Fairy

I hope you saw early this last week that there were two new images released at SCACD drawn by Victoria CaseSpa Time Fairy and this one, Forest Fairy.

I was a bit intimidated by the idea of coloring the fawn at first.  I don't feel that I usually do a very good job when it comes to coloring animals.  However, I have to admit that I am quite pleased with how it turned out and it wasn't difficult at all!
I paired the image with paper from the Prima Madeline pack and the sentiment is from the same pack.  The flower is one of the fabulous velvet hydrangeas -currently on sale!

The SCACD Challenge BLOG's challenge right now is to use Blue & Flowers.  I had no problem doing both of those!

Challenges:
SCACD #4 - Blue & Flowers
Stamp Something - Things With Wings
