Daisy Flower Fairy

This lovely lady is Daisy Flower Fairy by Jennifer Nilsson for Sweet Pea Stamps.

After I colored Daisy Flower Fairy I added stickles to both her and the bumble bee's wings.  Then I paired her with Kaisercraft Lilac Avenue paper and some assorted flowers I had on hand.  The flower centers are created with a Viva Decor Pearl Pen

Siren's Call - altered style

My friend Danni did an absolutely amazing tutorial on masking on the SCACD store blog - Follow Your Heart.  You really should check it out.  I was inspired by her to do a bit of masking of my own.

I am one of those people who has more than one project going at a time.  I know, you are all shocked, but it is just how I am.  A couple of those projects are altered books.  There are a couple because I have more than one theme going right now.  One of them is mermaid themed.  Siren's Call by Carmen Medlin exclusively for SCACD is an absolutely beautiful mermaid and what I used for this project.

I decided that for what I was doing, I did not want to stamp the cattails portion of the image.  I did a bit of reverse masking to pull this off.
You can do this two different ways.  1- ink up the image and then place tape over the section you don't want to stamp (what I did this time).  2- place tape of the section you don't want to stamp, ink up the image and remove the tape before you stamp.  BOTH work and I use both, it just depends on the area I don't want to show when stamping which way I decide is easiest.  If I have to piece together the tape (like this time) I will usually do the first one so it doesn't come off while I am inking up the image.

I then stamped the image on my book page.   The next step is to create the standard mask to use.  I stamped the full image on Eclipse Tape.  This is kind of like a post it note with it all being the sticky part.
I then cut out the image and placed over the one I had already stamped on the page.  As you can see, I didn't worry about the reverse masking when I stamped it here because I just cut the cattails away.

Once the mask was in place, I inked all around the image to create my scene.  I also spritzed some water on it without any problems.

When everything was dry, I removed my mask and completed the page.  I DID use just the face portion from the mask and glue it permanently on the image so that none of the words from the book page interfered with her face.

Some color, some, ok a LOT, of Stickles and a word.  Here she is.  Siren's Call, all ready to be looked at, loved and admired.

Now it is your turn!

Fairy of the Night

I love the look on this wonderful fairy's face.  She seems so reflective and just deep in thought.  The original by ching-chou kuik has her all in black, and she is gorgeous.  I love seeing what color does to change the look and feel of an image.  I think she is just as pretty in red.  I paired the image with paper from the Kaisercraft Seaside collection.

Fairy of the Night is part of Plate #29 and all four of the images are amazing.  She is also available individually and is currently on sale for $2.  YES!  You read that correctly!

Have fun creating with all of your Sweet Pea Stamps Images!!  Be certain to share with us for Customer Creations week on the blog and enter in the challenges at One Sweet Challenge.

SkyPrincess

I received the most FABULOUS thing in the mail!!!  I got my order from SkyPrincess on Etsy, aka my friend Alison.  She is making gorgeous necklaces and keychains using washers and imprinting them.  You know I am all about the One Little Word concept of Ali Edwards.  This year, my word is Strength.  You can read all about the how and why of it HERE
I ordered a keychain and the only direction I gave Alison was the words STRENGTH and PASSION.

this is what I received:

Isn't it amazing?!  Alison used red wire because the color red signifies both strength and passion.  The orange charm is also for strength.  The bead is made of Carnelian and the meaning can be found HERE.  Could it be more perfect?  I think not.  Alison put together the PERFECT keychain for me.  I love, love, LOVE it!

Thank you Alison!  You are the BEST and I am so honored to have this be my reminder for the year.

I know that if you want one, Alison will do just as perfect a job for YOU!  You can order one at her ETSY shop HERE and be sure to let her know your words, colors, etc.  Open a dialogue, she has fabulous ideas.

Spring Fairies are HERE!

The Spring Fairies are released today at SCACD!!!  You can see them HERE.  Be certain you head to the store BLOG for a link to all the wonderful samples!

I want to remind you how amazing the Fall Flora Fairies are while you are here.

Tulipa is colored in to create a silhouette and then paired with Echo Park Metropolitan paper.  I am loving this look, but can not take credit for coming up with the idea.  I saw it on Grandma Pearl's blog and thought it was brilliant!  I have been experimenting and some images work better than others, but these fairies are just perfect for it!

Friendship Rose is colored in to become a silhouette as well.  The background is white cardstock using the Couture Creations Vintage Plumes embossing folder.  I rubbed some rose and green inks on it to bring out the texture.  The vines are from the Memory Box die Madera Corner.  Both the rose and green paper are from the Kaisercraft English Rose paper pack.

Go check out the new release Spring Fairies and if you don't already have the Fall Flora Fairies, pick them up as well!

Poppy Love

Poppy Love is an image by ching-chou kuik and is part of Plate #25.  The mermaids, fairies and other lovelies in the ching-chou kuik collection are a joy to stamp, color and create with!  It is even more fun when the images and the paper pair as perfectly as Poppy Love does with this paper from Authentique.

Reflections Set #1

SCACD is OPEN!  WOOT WOOT!  After a nice break for the holiday, Susana's SCACD is open for business.

This image is from the Reflections Set #1 drawn by Carmen Medlin and the full set is ON SALE!  She is called 1st Sign of Fall.

I paired her with some of the vintage look paper in the Prima Printery paper pack - also ON SALE.  I decided to keep the cream and browns with a touch of blue going when selecting the embellishments as well.  I used the same Copic I colored her dress with to color the Bella Bauble in the large flower and the centers of the small ones.

Challenges:

Sketch & Stash - Sketch #78
Paper Creations Ink #16 - Die cuts/punches
